It has been an incredible summer here in Birmingham City Schools and we are excited for the return of students and teachers on Monday. This year the Gifted and Talented Program will continue to be school-based, with gifted teachers going out to the schools. To see the teachers assigned to your school who can help you with gifted and talented questions or concerns, please visit our contact page. We are looking forward to some exciting experiences this school year! This year gifted education in the state of Alabama was funded again, and we will be using these resources to plan experiences for students, professional development for teachers, and creating 21st century classrooms within the GATE program where students are consistently challenged to think critically and creatively. We are proud to announce the acquisition of technology for GATE classrooms that will be rolled out in the fall. In September we will attend our annual Alabama Association for Gifted Children conference, where teachers and staff will learn more about gifted students and strategies that engage them. Parents are always welcome to attend this conference. There are so many possibilities for our students and teachers in this upcoming year- I am excited to see what the days to come will bring and I can't wait to welcome students and teachers back to school next week. One of my favorite gifted kids--Kid President, welcomes us back to school~! What are you going to teach the world?
